Celebrating the Start of the Sewer and Road Project at the Playa Carmen - Santa Teresa Intersection

The Chamber of Tourism and Commerce of the Blue Zone is thrilled to announce the beginning of the long-awaited sewer project, a key step toward constructing the new road connecting Playa Carmen and Santa Teresa. After more than 12 years of anticipation, this milestone marks a historic achievement for our community, fostering progress and significantly enhancing the quality of life for residents, business owners, and visitors.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Municipality, under the leadership of Lic. Ronny Montero, whose dedicated efforts have made this project a reality. Since the founding of our Chamber, we have strongly advocated for this initiative, recognizing its importance to the region’s tourism development. We also commend the organizations, businesses, and community members whose unwavering support has been crucial in advancing this project over the years.

We are especially pleased that this project takes a holistic approach, addressing rainwater management, constructing curbs and drains, and ensuring the addition of sidewalks. As per regulations, the responsibility for building sidewalks lies with property owners along public streets. We encourage all neighbors and business owners to join this effort, contributing to the enhancement and functionality of our roads.

We remind drivers and visitors that starting this Friday, sewer construction will take place during nighttime hours. Please plan accordingly and stay updated on the project’s progress.

As the Chamber of Tourism and Commerce, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting initiatives that drive the development of our region, solidifying the Blue Zone as a competitive, thriving, and sustainable destination.
